RYAN ADAMS

The soundtrack to my spring this year is definitely music by Ryan Adams. I am actually very ashamed to admit I only discovered his music when he released his interpretation of 1989 by Taylor Swift. His version of “Out of the woods” really shook me. I have been hooked ever since, which is incredible because I don’t even like country, folk, blues or punk. He does it all and more. Yes, from time to time there comes an artist whose work completely takes me over.

I’ve already played songs by Ryan from various (and very different) albums. This time we’ll focus on one - 29. Released in 2005, it’s described as alternative country.

ASGEIR

Super fresh single Stardust by the Icelandic singer, musician and song-writer Asgeir Trausti. His music is described as melodic folk, fortunately though it’s a beautiful merger of folk and electro. Do you remember Going Home? Well, this is my brand new addiction.

May! Be here already! Twin Peaks, House of Cards, the new album by The Afghan Whigs - In Spades. Their previous work - Do To The Beast, was my favourite album of 2014. It was the first album in 16 years. I am soo happy they did not let us wait so long for the next one.

LIFE AFTER PORN

As a Netflix junkie, I will be updating you on things I watch. “Hot Girls Wanted” is a documentary from 2015, presenting stories of a few young girls trying to make it in the amateur porn business. Obviously, most of them get chewed up and spit out by industry in as little as six months. We live in the era of influencers, Instagram celebrities, bloggers. And the Internet remembers. Or does it? Can their little adventure be buried and forgotten? What is left? What life after porn can be like? I would love to hear what you guys have to say about that.

DIRK GENTLY'S HOLISTIC DETECTIVE AGENCY

Created by BBC America, featuring Samuel Barnett and Elijah Wood. Oh my god. I don’t think I’d ever laughed as much and loud as while I was watching this one. Seriously. I always laugh on the inside. Anyway … Incredible production. The cast, the atmosphere, the plot, the outcome - everything absolutely brilliant. The genre - detective / comic science fiction - not usually my thing, but here we are. :)

The story starts with a disappearance of a young girl and the murder of her father. I will only say there is an incredible number of sets of guys involved in this story. It’s got a little bit of everything but at the same time it is very cohesive. I cannot wait the next season.

As far as I know, the official soundtrack album has not yet been released. I hope it does though. The author - Cristobal Tapia De Veer, a Chilean-born Canadian score composer, created a masterpiece. You can check it out below.

JERZY MAŁEK

One of the best Polish trumpet players making jazz. His new project - Forevelle - so delightful. Jerzy Małek has cooperated with the greatest jazz musicians - Leszek Możdżer, Michał Urbaniak, Staszek Sojka, Nigel Kennedy - to mention a few. Check out one of the seven amazing tracks from the latest release.
