Today's Rock Explorer was partly dedicated to a loved rock star, the front man of two amazing rock bands - Soundgarden and Audioslave -, and a great solo musician Chris Cornell, who sadly died last week. In addition to playing music related to Cornell, we also had plenty of wonderful requests and heard several great classics. See below!
Our today's requests included Temple of The Dog, Age of Days (kate's requests), Van Halen (paulesco), Nickelback (K2tlin), U2, Supergrass (Klompz) and Five Finger Death Punch (EricHogue).
The requests were covered with some interesting stories. For example, we learned that "Temple of The Dog" was a collaboration of Chris Cornell with Pearl Jam's future members. In fact, one member of the band - Matt Cameron - became a full-time drummer for both Soundgarden and Pearl Jam, and was the first of Cornell's bandmates to comment the tragic event.
My own choices were also dedicated to Chris Cornell. I played his solo release "Nearly Forgot My Broken Heart" (see below) and my new introduction from Audioslave's repertoire "The Worm". The show was concluded with Soundgarden's "Fresh Tendrils".
Among other things, we spoke about a terror attack taking place in Manchester on Tuesday and about terrorism in general.
We also mentioned one of the legendary actors portraying James Bond, Sir Roger Moore, who passed away on Tuesday.
